Key fobs
Various key fob designs I've made so far
The rectangular fobs with raised letters are for Nectarine, an internet demoscene radio website. I had the idea for those on a drive back from the hackerspace, as my previous idea for a t-shirt never really materialized. T-shirts also require finding a place willign to do nice screen prints and all the shops were local, which is good, but it also meant they took weekends off and had hours the same as I did. I don't mind as they have a right to weekends and setting their own hours, but it kinda sunk the idea. Also, t-shirts by their nature require keeping around or having made copies in different sizes to accommodate everyone. A key fob is one-size-fits-all and keeping it in stock is easy, just make a lot of the same thing.
The square ones with the circular logo were created for the Revision demoparty and given out only at the party. I handed them out for free at Revision 2013, but (at the time of writing this) plan to sell them at Revision 2014 to at least cover costs. People seemed to like them, despite being somewhat plain. Like the Nectarine ones they have the same thing on both sides. The first batch, made for Revision 2013, only had about 50 ... which was not nearly enough. 2014 will get to see 200 of them.
The cirles with trumpets were made for pouet.net, a demoscene aggregator of production info and host of a well-trafficked forums. The tagline is a joke because there always seems to be some of that somewhere, and they were made back when the open sourcing/2.0/site ownership debate was still fresh in most people's minds (but resolved). There are only 12 of these made at this point in time, and they will be given to a scener by the handle Gargaj (a site developer). He put out a private feeler e-mail, so they may already all be spoken for.
Lastly, are the SceneSat key fobs. They are also a somewhat demoscene internet radio website, but they also pull in music from more loosely affiliated sources compared to Nectarine. Unlike Nectarine where there wasn't a clear logo I felt I could translate, SceneSat had Spunik and a wordmark of sorts so I ended up with two designs which I put up for a vote. The jury was hung, so both ended up getting made. They will debut at Revision 2014.
More information and details on the process / community involvement can be found at the Nectarine forums or the Pouet "BBS".
